March Comes in like a Lion

We are all currently snowed in... I LOATHE snow in March, it should be time for daffodils and tulips, not snow! I had a really busy weekend here! I had 2 male senior studio shoots, followed by a 9 mos old shoot Saturday.

As you know, I've been running the Photography Challenge over at TDC. Well the above photos represent the challenge "The Feeling of Happy." Four days of wearing that costume and flying like a superhero, sure gives my Ses that feeling... lol.

I have to share these below photos... Four years ago, baby Seth & Daddy napping on the couch~

Yesterday's nap on the couch. Love it. Not much has changed on Sunday afternoons.

Seth as been fully potty trained for over a year... meaning he has also been fully NIGHT trained for over a year. Nate or I always take him to the potty before we go to be, around 11pm, to help fully empty his bladder.

Over the last year he has had the random accident.

But he has now wet the bed EVERY night, the last 4 nights in a row. I don't get it. And he can't explain it. Yesterday morning he said "It's b/c my bed is warm." This morning he said "I'm scared of the dark." I'm getting very tired of washing everything everyday now.

I've asked him if it hurts when he pees (like a UTI) he said no. I asked him if he was nervous about Baby Sister coming, he said "no." I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

I have no idea, but I KNOW the pain of having a child potty trained only to witness them revert back, even for a short time. All I can say is make sure there's no drinking within the hour before bed. Alexis is 8 and I still will not let her drink anything after an hour prior to bedtime.

Awesome splash page!!! Love that baby!!!

I was told by our ped. that sometimes during a growth spurt they have accidents again because the bladder hasn't quite caught up with the rest of them yet. Maybe that is the case here?

My 4 yo is totally dry at night if he wears pull-ups, but has accidents every other night when just in pants. So now he wears pull-ups over the pants - just one accident. Hoping we can soon remove the pull-ups again, but making life happier for both of us by not making it an issue right now.

Fab photos!

My sis had the same problem with her dd as of now they will be testing her for dyslexia b/c some of her other symptoms but my sis was going crazy for the same reason, washing and stuff. Hope it's just b/c he's nervous about something ;)

Happened to our 4 1/2 year old daughter about 6 months ago. Could no figure it out. Started getting up around 4 every morning to take her potty. Did that for about 3 weeks. Decided to try one morning and not do it. She woke up dry. Have not done it since. I just think it was a phase and she "grew" out of it. Good luck!

Your photos are always so cute! I could be wrong of course, but I bet he is just excited about his baby sister coming and that may be the cause and maybe he doesnt even realize that is why. ;o)

My 4 1/2 year old boy has the same problem. He has been potty trained since 2 1/2, but just in the last year he started wetting the bed almost every night. He now wears pull-ups to bed so I don't have to wash sheets every day! The pediatrician said it's very common and related to growing because the bladder doesn't grow as quick as needed. We're not alone because there must be a reason that they make the big kid pull-ups.

Maybe he is just overly stimulated? When my nephew visited last summer, he was also 4 & was just so tired, excited, overwhelmed on the trip that he had quite a few nights of having pee accidents. It seemed to go away though as quickly as it came. Good luck!

We were having the same problem with my son. The ped suggested it was a phase, but since he had recently had a meatoplasty (to widen his urethra), I took him back to our urologist. After listening to me explain what was going on, his first impression was that my son was constipated. I was so surprised that I actually said "He's not having a bm in his bed, he's urinating!" After he examined my son, he confirmed that his urethra was fine and that constipation was the likely cause. Turns out my son's colon was so full that he could actually feel it upon examination of his belly. Oddly enough, my son had been complaining of a belly ache every day since he'd started the bed wetting, but I never connected the two. Turns out that the colon rests between the spine and the bladder, so when it is so full it pushes on the bladder since it can't move beyond the spine. Since they are potty trained, they know to tighten the muscle to hold it or to go to the bathroom when they are awake. SInce they are so young, it's hard for them to react so quickly to it when they are asleep. I was doubtful until we started giving my son a laxative (1/2 cap of miralax per day) and tracking what he was drinking and when he went to the bathroom. Turned out he was also dehydrated (go figure??), so giving him more liquids and a laxative got rid of the constipation and the bed wetting went away. Crazy. Seth may just be in a phase ... but maybe not. Follow that mommy instinct and try tracking his liquid intake, urination, and bm's then take a trip to the doctor and get an opinion. Hope it all works out for you!
