{Blessed}

Lisa Leonard was asking her readers what our "word for 2009" is....

My word for 2009: BLESSED

A couple weeks ago when I was thanking God for giving us the girl we desired after 2 boys, I was praying very humbly… telling Him “we didn’t deserve this blessing….”

And I distinctly heard a still small voice say…

“why? why not bless you?”

And I was totally comforted by the fact, that even though we do not deserve blessings, God enjoys bestowing them.

Burns' Christmas '08

Christmas Eve....

Christmas Morning....

Lucas really was NOT interested in opening presents. I don't think we was feeling very well, but he kept wandering away refusing to tear paper. I think the below present is the only one he really opened.

The carnage....

This crane from Chasing Fireflies, is by far the biggest hit. Seth played with it for hours.

Sweet snuggles

My new lens and I....

Isn't She Hot?!?!?

The lens people, not me... ;)

my Christmas present, the Nikon 70-200mm 2.8

And look at me flexing my guns just to hold it up, lol!

Sugar's Nursery

We went to the mall last week, and wandered into Pottery Barn Kids. I asked to view a certain quilt in person, as I had been eying a certain room in their catalogue and online. They brought out the LAST one the store had. Online it sells for $80... but because it was their last of a newly-store-discontinued line, I got it for, wait for it....... $25!!!!

Here is Baby Girl's nursery (a la PBK pics {no, her name is not caitlin})...

I came straight home and ordered the bumper, sheets and bed ruffle. We haven't yet decided if we'll go the pine colored furniture, or break new ground with white furniture. She doesn't have a dresser yet, but our Daybed, which will eventually become hers in a few years, is a pine bed with some black wrought iron. Nate says he can paint it, but I'm still on the fence.

As for Sugar's online nickname... you may remember I did this with Lucas too, calling him "Bean." I have to keep a couple things a surprise. ;) "Sugar" is actually pretty special, as it was the name we called my great-grandma.

Wouldn't you know that I have 2 fancy schmancy parties this weekend (where I am wearing exactly the same thing too, lol) and my face looks like pepperoni pizza. Dang these hormones and thank goodness for photoshop later, lol.

{G Family}

What a sweet family, and what a bunch of charming children!

I met mom the week before the shoot at a mutual friend's Open House. I had a table/ stand set up. Mom & I got to talking about getting photos done for family that lived out of country.

These girls were just natural little models... they posed themselves and were just thrilled to be in front of the camera. Little man below needed a bit of extra coaxing, but he was totally sweet.

The whole family... all of them so good-looking!

All Decked Out For Christmas....

Brand new are our PBK stockings.... We don't have a fireplace, so I temporarily removed our family's 16x20 canvas, and hung them on those removable hooks. You should have seen Nate with his level and tape measurer out making sure they were *perfect*.

Also new this year...

a nativity from Israel

A nativity from Ethiopia

I also have a Fontanini Nativity Set on my Hutch/ Sideboard. I also fill my vintage cake stand with glass ornament balls and use that as my dining room table centerpiece.

Lucas' snowman handprint ornament

And here is our annual Christmas Card. It is two-sided, printed on Pearl paper (through my pro-Lab). I did add 2008 under our names on the back.

Let me tell you.... that photo took THREE separate tries, Lucas would have NONE of it. And, this final picture still has a headswap...

And Just WHO is Baby Burns 3?

Why She's a GIRL naturally!

When the ultra sound technician told me the GREAT news that #3 is a girl, I just blubbered all over the table. I have been praying since conception that this baby would be my little girl, and it looks like God heard my prayers. I am so stinking excited... how perfect is my family now?!?!?

The first thing I did was go out and buy a babydoll and a pink tutu!

{Baby J}

Remember the bottom couple here?

Well, shortly after that photo, they announced they were expecting their first child....

And here he is.... Baby J.

What a peanut! He is just a lil' guy, but he is a wise soul, and has that precious newborn smell I adore.

And, Family A, all cozy....

Love to you my friends, I'm so blessed with your friendship, and am happy to observe your new journey.
