Giving Thanks

Things are a-happening here in the Burns' household lately. And I'm so sorry for lagging in the posting department.

Can you believe that it is almost Thanksgiving? This month went fast. These last couple months just went fast. The Good Book says "it is good to give thanks to the Lord." (Psalm 92:1)

Nate: I am so very thankful that he is a great provider and a wonderful husband. In this time of economic uncertainty, I am blessed that my husband's job has been unaffected, thus we are unaffected. I am thankful that he is strong, and loyal, and ever-determined.

Seth: I am so very thankful that my oldest child is so bright and witty. I am thankful that he is strong willed, because I know that it means he can think for himself. I am thankful that he is imaginative and that his smile is heartbreakingly beautiful.

Lucas: I am so very thankful that my second child is so sensitive and a cuddler. I am thankful that he is a mama's boy and comes looking just for me when he is in need. I am thankful that he is the clown of the family and does goofy things to make us laugh, and that his blue eyes just sparkle when he achieves it.

Baby 3: I am so very thankful that it is easy for me to conceive children when I know there are other very deserving women just aching for the miracle. I am thankful that this child is kicking and squirming, and I am thankful for the chance to see who this little Burns will grow to be.

I am so very thankful for talents and gifts that *I* cannot take credit for. The Lord has given, and I am joyful for it. I am thankful that these gifts are truly enjoyable. I am so thankful for my family's health and the things we have been given, ie. our home, and the ability to feed our family.

What are you thankful for?

Ladies Retreat

I had my annual church's Ladies Retreat this past weekend.

A time to reconnect with my fellow sisters, a time for Therapy (lol) and of course a time to refresh my relationship with God. It was a really great time, where all of those things happened. I am really blessed to be surrounded with such lovely ladies, all who share my same views.

And of course, I loved being surrounded by estrogen, and not so much testosterone... lol. But, don't get me wrong, I was very ready to see all my boys come Sunday and Monday.

{The P Family}

Let me tell you... this family is a riot! These kids were fun, energetic and are killing me with their lashes and expressive eyes. I captured quite a few silly moments... but here's a few that tug on my heart... in between the giggles of course.

{The H Sisters}

Here is a sneak peek into the H family's sister shoot.... I still cannot get over the hair and the eyes! The two girls were complete darlings... both were just perfect.

I am just crazy about these photos!

Updating....

Over the latter part of the week my lovely in-laws came for a visit. It was the first time they've come to visit since we've moved and I was so excited to show them around town. My Father-in-Law's health is doing much better. He is over the hill, and on his way to a complete recovery.

We took them to Washington DC on Friday, their 2nd time there, but it had been 15 yrs. We went to the International Spy Museum, and then trekked it over to the White House. I've lived in MD for 20 yrs, but it was also my first time outside the gates. They are already working on building the Inaugural Stand, concrete and everything.

Saturday they left, and I had a full 2 hr shoot with 3 awesome kids. This is a repeat family for me, I shot them at a Portrait Party last March... they are unique and a riot. Yesterday I had a 3 hr shoot with a newborn, and I am just plain tuckered out.

Yesterday I also caught my thumb nail on our GPS unit, and ripped off my nail 1/3 of the way up the nail bed. OUCH, so I am missing a bunch of nail, and it is sooooore.

Last week I also switched out my normal clothes for my maternity clothes. The shirts are still big for me, but I really didn't feel like switching out to my winter wardrobe, just to switch out again to maternity in a few weeks. I'm already 16 weeks! Isn't this pregnancy going SO FAST? I will be taking a belly shot this week, I promise. I do have a bit of a bump. I had another DA last week, and gained *just* another 2 lbs in the last month. Good for me! Another boring, uneventful visit, but we did schedule our gender ultrasound for Dec. 5. Now just to decide to share the news right away... or make everyone wait till Christmas. ;)

Today I edit. And Edit. And edit some more.... lol. With a bit o' laundry mixed in.

What a lil' peanut Baby Si was.... and such a serious guy at that! This is the 3rd unit within the same family that I have now photographed, and can I just say that I love this whole family? I bet reunions are awesome!

Some snuggly eight week old goodness.....
