Migraines....

Headaches stink. Seriously. I've battled a migraine all week. I wake up in the morning with a knife stabbing me straight through the head over my left eye. I'm nauseas and any light or noise makes me want to hug the john. I do get these from time to time, but usually I can medicate them away by the afternoon. This migraine has been particularly nasty. I can medicate *most* of it away, but there is this dull throb still lingering.

Maybe today will be better!

A Change....

Why the change?

Change is good. Change is defining and makes you step outside of your box. Change is refreshing.

I started "Embellish" two and a half years ago with the complete intent that I would someday open my own digital scrapbook store called Embellish. Too much time has passed, and now it is clear that that route isn't in the cards for me. No worries... I have NO plans to stop designing, and I am NOT leaving The Digi Chick. I am happy there.

But now that my photography business is expanding, I needed my name "findable."

I thought about switching to Typepad... I even had it all customized and *most* of this blog transferred over... but when it came down to it, you can't beat a free blog service.

Thank you all my faithful readers... you aren't really readers anymore, you truly are friends who bless my heart.

Another blessing of my heart.... these two precious rascals.

A Christmas Story {In July}

Last week I promised the A Christmas Story pictures, and I finally nagged Nate to death to give the pictures of of his lil' Nikon Point & Shoot.

While in Ohio weeks ago we stopped by the A Christmas Story House in Cleveland. It was so COOL! There is a little gift shop, an in-the-works-museum, and of course the house you can tour.

During the tour we learned that the movie was really low budget, and even though it takes place in Indiana, Cleveland was an economical choice. In the early 80's, the movie was owned by a bachelor who had no problems relocating to a Hotel for a few weeks. After the movie, it was eventually sold and turned into a duplex. A couple years ago the previous owner decided to list and sell the house on Ebay. At the time the house was only worth $40K, but the previous owner listed it at $100K. Someone in California (not knowing the housing conditions in this part of Cleveland) thought this was a steal and purchased it for $150K. He was dismayed to see the run-down, rotted floors, duplex condition and had to dump $250K into rehabilitation. He restored it to Movie-Like condition matching what he could. Across the street is the little museum with clothing and artifacts from the movie.

It was really cool! Are you a fan of this movie?

Thursday Goodness....

Nate and I have just finished watching a FASCINATING mini-series. It came recommended to us from several people, so we finally rented it, and watched it this week.

The Lost Room

In the 1960s an unknown event at the Sunshine Motel caused ordinary things in Room 10 to transform into items of wonder. The room and its contents gained unique and inexplicable properties transforming them from mundane things into indestructible Objects with extraordinary powers that are sought after by anyone who knows their secrets. Police Det. Joe Miller (Peter Krause) first learns of The Room when he unwittingly comes across the most powerful and coveted Object of them all: the Key. His life immediately turns upside down as his young daughter becomes lost in the room and Joe is the target of shadowy figures who will stop at nothing to take from him his only hope of saving her - the Key.

We REALLY were immersed in it, and loved it! Highly entertaining!

Here's a few more images from our recent trip to Ohio. These first were taken on Lake Erie.

this was taken literally 2 minutes after ours was... notice the color difference in the sky. I think I like theirs better, LOL!

And my niece during our 4th Picnic. Isn't she a beauty?!?!?!

Family Photo Fun....

Hi everyone!

Back from COLD COLD NW Ohio.... I didn't realize I needed my sweats for JULY!

Here we are... the Burns' in their glory on Lake Erie. LOL~ this was done with my remote (clutched in that hand on the sand) and Gramma behind the camera dancing for the boy's attention. 40 photos, and this was the LAST one taken.

Nikon D80, 17-55mm 2.8, F4.5, ISO 100

I metered for the sky, and used some fill flash.

The 4th was fun. Big family picnic with all the family we haven't seen since we moved, 10 months ago.

We did do something cool while we were there... we went to Cleveland and visted the House & Museum of The Christmas Story movie, complete with Leg Lamp, LOL! I have some awesome pics to share once I get them off of Nate's Point & Shoot.

Today is laundry catch-up day, groceries, a run to the bank.....
